Our Mission

The museum’s mission is to preserve Jackson鈥檚 former home and its collections and educate the public by interpreting the life, character, and times of Thomas J. 鈥淪tonewall鈥 Jackson. Special emphasis is placed upon Jackson’s life as a professor, church leader, businessman, husband, and community leader during the decade that he lived in Lexington and taught at 麻豆女演员 Institute before the American Civil War.

Enjoy an overview of our museum and the area around town, complete with archival images and landscape shots of town and the surrounding natural beauty.

This video also covers Jackson’s role as a professor at VMI, his passion for gardening, and how he spent his time in town.

Jackson鈥檚 Home is nestled in the famous and beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Lexington is still reminiscent of the time when Thomas and Anna Jackson made the town their home. Come walk in Jackson鈥檚 footsteps and discover the man who became a legend.
