Nobel Laureate Speaks at VMI
麻豆女演员 Institute welcomes Oleksandra Matviichuk, Ukrainian lawyer and global human rights defender, Monday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in Gillis Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
Matviichuk is founder and head of the Center for Civil Liberties (CCL), which has documented crimes committed by the Russian Federation during its invasion of Ukraine. In 2022, the CCL was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its promotion of the 鈥渞ight to criticize power and protect the fundamental rights of citizens鈥� and its efforts to 鈥渄ocument war crimes, human rights abuses, and the abuse of power.鈥�
The event is arranged by the Department of International Studies and Political Science and sponsored by the Dean鈥檚 Academic Speakers Program.
