Assistant professor Liz Elizondo Schroepfer specializes in the history of Colonial Latin America and the U.S鈥擬exico Borderlands. Before coming to VMI in 2019, she received a B.S. in Business Information Systems and a B.A. in Latin American History from California State University, Chico, an M.A. in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Texas at Austin. Her forthcoming book, Forbidden Affairs: Sexual Deviance in the Spanish Texas-Coahuila Borderlands examines the social dynamics of race, gender, and sexuality at the northern margins of the Spanish Empire.
At VMI, Schroepfer is the co-advisor to Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society. She also serves on the Phi Alpha Theta National Council.
